In this lesson, students will discuss the evolution of payment methods and define consumer needs and security measures, and research payment options available for purchases and bills. Students will use this information to design a “futuristic” payment option to present to the class and will justify in writing whether or not it is realistic to eliminate the need for cash, checks and credit cards.

The students will play a simulation game about how to obtain personal credit and the impact that bad and/or good credit can have on personal credit scores. They will define personal credit vocabulary, analyze credit lines, and follow lifestyles scenario decisions to see the impact on personal credit scores. The objective of the game is to improve your credit score so that you can purchase your chosen item on credit.

Lesson plan enables students to determine their spending habits, analyze good versus bad debt and compare and contrast credit card applications for terms and conditions and determine which card is a better option. An online guided worksheet accompanies this esson plan.
